How to Always Be Meditating

WHY should you always be meditating: Once you strip away all of our worldly possessions and desires of the flesh, we are left with just our mind and our consciousness. I have mentioned in a previous post that the purpose of meditation is to be fully in touch with our self, viewing our life from a greater perspective. Another way of phrasing this is forming a total connection between our mind, body, and spirit. Meditating outside of a typical meditation session is a great way to strengthen that connection, so we should strive to incorporate meditation into everything we do.

WHO I learned this from: Grandmaster Chris Berlow, author of Mindful Meditation of Busy Lives and cofounder of UMAC and Empowered Mastery . I recently read his book and felt it was so important that I had to share it.

Active Meditation: The way to always be meditating is to treat every activity as an active meditation. Meditation here is not an action, it is a mindset of mindfulness. It is not WHAT you do, but rather HOW you do it. It means being fully present in every action you take, living in and enjoying that moment. A great example to see this in action is eating. Many of us, myself included, eat really fast, either because we’re hungry or the food is just so good! When we do this, however, we do not take the time to fully enjoy the food. We rush through the meal only to miss the best parts. Meditation while eating entails taking your time, being grateful for the meal, and savoring in every bite. One can see how this process makes eating a far more enjoyable time than just mindlessly stuffing our faces.

I believe that this concept can apply to virtually every scenario; it just depends on the attitude you take. If you view cleaning as just a chore, you will dread every second of it. But if you see it as an opportunity to fully lose yourself in the moment, it will go by quickly and be kinda fun. That is the goal of active meditation, to fully lose yourself and embrace the present moment, living only in the now, not the past or future. Within weeks or even days of practicing this kind of meditation, you will not only find deeper meaning and enjoyment in even the smallest of things, but you will feel more connected to your mind and inner self.

Please let us know if you try it out and the results you experience, either in the comments of social media. I hope you enjoy this mindset as much as I do!
